What to Expect

Cityview Community Church is an assembly of individuals and families that make up the greater Body of Christ.  These individuals and families have come together and committed to one another in a common purpose – to call all people to the glory of God and to see lives transformed by His glory!  Our church family is comprised of both young and old.  Dress tends to be business-casual, but there is always a mixture of ties and blue jeans.  A variety of classes are offered for children and adults during our morning together.  We also provide nursery care for infants through toddlers during our morning classes and services.

Sunday Morning

Prayer & Worship (8:30am)

We begin each Lord’s Day together in corporate prayer and worship in the auditorium.  Typically, we begin our time together with a song led by our worship team, followed by prayer concentrated on a specific topic made known to the group upon arrival by that week’s prayer facilitator.  This time together allows us as a congregation to join in unity for specific and concentrated prayer.  Our time of prayer is usually ended with another song of praise and thanksgiving.

A microphone is located at the front of the auditorium for congregation members to pray and/or read relevant Scripture passages if they so desire.  This time of prayer is informal and unstructured, so folks are free to come and go during this hour.  Childcare is not provided, but children are certainly welcome to join with us during this prayer time.

LifeStages Classes (9:30am)

LifeStages classes are our time for age appropriate Biblical teaching and fellowship.  There are classes and groups for all ages, from newborn through adult.  The adult classes change throughout the year allowing for multiple topics to be covered.  Please visit the “Services” link on this website to view the current adult class offerings.

Due to our firm belief in family ministry, we try to limit family fragmentation for as many of our activities as possible.

Family Worship (10:30am)

Family worship is just that – families worshipping together.  The Family Worship service is typically one hour and thirty minutes in length.  A member of the worship team will lead the time of worship that includes singing, prayer, and giving of our financial resources.  Our music is primarily contemporary choruses and we use a variety of instruments to aid us in our praise of God.  We aim to sing songs that turn us towards God, are full of theological truth, and exalt Jesus Christ.  A member of our pastoral team is responsible for the preaching of the Bible.  We have a practice of teaching through a book of the Bible from beginning to end by examining the original meaning of the text and how it applies in our lives today.  We close our time with a song of worship.  As a church family, we share in communion monthly during this service.

Childcare is offered during Family Worship (Newborn – Age 5).  We welcome children of all ages with us in the service, however, we offer childcare if needed or desired.

At the conclusion of our time, we have trained members of the congregation available for prayer.  They will be located to the side of the front platform and will be identified as members of the prayer team.  These folks have been trained to pray for healing, to encourage you through Scripture, as well as serve to listen and express care.

We acknowledge this to be a ‘typical’ Sunday morning here at Cityview Church.  From time to time, the Elders may sense God’s desire to move in a special and unique way, and the above ‘expectations’ may differ from actual experiences.  This is His assembly, His church.

Family Celebration Dinners (11:00am - 5th Sunday of the Month)

Every 5th Sunday of the month, we forgo the above schedule to meet together for a meal.  Each individual/family brings a dessert or main dish to share with the others.  We are encouraged to worship with our families at home, and then come to Cityview at 11:00am for lunch together.  This is a great time for those that are new to the Cityview family to meet new folks as well as for others to invite friends, family, and/or neighbors.  We will begin our time together with a song of praise and then it's time to eat.  For those who grew up with pot-luck dinners, you know to come hungry!  We are celebrating the family of God as we share food and conversation together.
