Geeks?

With geek becoming more chic, what was the spark to start the geek revolution?  Give a device, OS, piece of software or a "huh, i'm just trying to stop the 00:00 from blinking on my vcr"

I'd have to say that the personal computer was the spark. once widespread adoption happened, developers and software exploded to build and push along technology

Geeks have always been around. Nikola Tesla was a geek, Issac Newton was a geek, Ben Franklin, there are hundreds in history. It just didn't become popular until the common folk discovered that they needed someone to fix the items this technology boom created. The computer was around in the government way before it became public and used as a military tool. The government realized that there were many of their people that were not close enough to the main research facilities to access the data they needed and thats when the smaller "pc" came into being. Soon the banking industry got involved because the software was developed to read checks and transfer data to the larger main frames. The internet started in the 60's because someone realized it could be used for marketing between financial institutions and just took off from there. Basically it's all about the money.....LOL! I do not call myself a geek by any means but I do technical trouble shooting for a large company. I am only a gee......I have not earned my k yet and not sure I want too!
